  1. Preservative Change to FTSH2O Membranes

    Preservative Change to FTSH2O Membranes

Effective December 18, 2020 FTSH2O Membranes will be packaged in a storage solution of 0.09% sorbic acid + 0.09% potassium sorbate. Membranes were previously stored in a food grade 1% sodium metabisulfite solution.

The reason for the change was to use a more human and environmentally friendly solution.

Post use, the membrane should be rinsed with water after testing and stored in clean water (if the storage is a short duration, ie. 24 hours).   If the membrane, now exposed to organics, is rinsed with water and expected to be stored for > 48 hours, it's recommend to use a 1% sodium metabisulfite to prevent bacterial growth from occurring.

Forward Osmosis Membranes are used in an array of wastewater recycling and water reclamation applications.

AlphaFold - The AI Leader in Protein Structure Prediction

In this final installment of our AlphaFold series, we will tell the story of how DeepMind, a research developer in the AI community, leveraged its AlphaFold system to play a vital role in the fight against COVID-19.

  4. Better recycling with plastic hungry enzymes

Better recycling with plastic hungry enzymes

    Summary

Household plastic waste is an increasing global problem as the annual supply of new plastics greatly outweighs their rate of biodegradation or recycling. Discovery of a new enzyme from plastic-eating bacteria, may hold the key for improving plastic recycling and reducing the amount of plastic waste in our environment.

  5. What Membrane Filters are Right for Me?

What Membrane Filters are Right for Me?

Usually, researchers start with bench-scale feasibility testing.

That means using a membrane sample from a large-scale membrane module offered by commercial manufacturers and testing that in a bench-scale filtration setup.
