Time’s Top Inventions of 2021

Necessity is the mother of invention. Time, a leading authority on current affairs in almost all facets of life, recently published “The Best Inventions of 2021: 100 Innovations Changing How We Live”, a list of novelties in disciplines as diverse as artificial intelligence, education, wellness, and so much more. We’ve filtered through the list and highlighted a few of our filtration related favorites.

One such invention is Mila, “a fine-looking filter,” a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) purifier. Not only does it diminish most bacteria and fine airborne particles, but it also includes some user-friendly elements such as a radar detection system that detects the presence of people and then reduces its noise. In addition, its stylish design was infused with chic midcentury-modern aesthetics.

With its latest Water Saver technology, L'oreal, upholds its commitment to sustainability. A showerhead cartridge containing Kérastase and L'Oréal Professionnel hair care products combined with micronization technology helps to cut water use by up to 80%! This is due to the system's connection to sinks and three slots for standard shampoos, conditioners, and treatments, all of which are dispersed straight into the water stream. The Water Saver then collides the micro-ionized droplets in a high-pressure stream, resulting in water particles that are ten times smaller.

Reebok's new THERMOWARM+GRAPHENE winter apparel range, which comprises jackets, leggings, and hoodies, deserves special note, too. Carbon atoms are closely bonded in a hexagonal honeycomb lattice to form graphene, a single layer (monolayer). It has excellent mechanical strength, chemical inertness, and a nearly frictionless surface, making it effective at retaining heat and hence the ideal cold-weather garment.
