SterliTECH Tip: Polyethylene versus Polypropylene Membranes

Sterlitech presents a new addition to its membrane line: Polyethylene. A comparable alternative to the discontinued polypropylene membranes, these polyethylene membranes provide several advantages over polyethylene membranes, including but not limited to being:

  • highly hydrophobic for reliable vent and air filtration
  • excellently chemical-resistant and clean, making them are ideal for filtration of high purity solvents such as HPLC mobile phases
  • compatible with gamma irradiation sterilization, unlike PTFE and polypropylene membranes
  • unsupported symmetric membranes that simplify integration into OEM devices
  • available in 0.05 micron pore size for applications requiring ultimate particle retention and other pore sizes ranging from 0.1 to 0.45 micron and in diameters from 25 to 90 mm.

Applications:

  • Vent and air filtration, especially in life science devices that are sterilized by gamma irradiation
  • Filtration of compatible non-aqueous chromatography mobile phases and samples
