SterliTECH Tip: Effortless Fastening: How Quick Release Knobs Simplify Membrane Cell Assembly

Quick Release Knobs are a convenient and reliable solution for fastening several of Sterlitech’s flat sheet membrane cells including the innovator and explorer cells. They are ideal for applications that require the knobs to be fully removed and provide the following benefits.

  • Fast and Easy Operation: Fasten or release the knobs easily by hand without needing any special tools.
  • Durable Performance: manufactured from 316 stainless steel, the knobs ensure safety during high-pressure applications and resist corrosion.   

Quick Assembly and Use Tips: 

  1. Tightening: After assembling the cell, place a knob on any corner, tilt slightly to slide in, then straighten to engage threads and rotate it clockwise until snug. Then proceed with another knob on the opposite diagonal corner of the cell. Tighten the remaining two knobs in a similar manner.
  2. Final Check: Once all knobs are in place, gently re-tighten them by hand. Do not use wrenches or tools to avoid damaging the threads and the O-rings inside the cell.
  3. During the experiment: After reaching your desired pressure, re-check the knobs and tighten slightly if needed.
  4. Cell Release: To disassemble the cell, rotate any knob counterclockwise until releasing it. Proceed with the diagonally opposite knob, followed by the remaining two knobs.
  5. Storage: To prevent corrosion, keep the knobs dry and avoid contact with the feed solution or other liquids. If a knob does get wet, immediately dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth.
