Industrial wastewater treatment presents unique challenges due to complex feed compositions and high salt concentrations. Traditionally, safe disposal or reuse of such wastewater has aimed to minimize environmental risks while conserving freshwater resources. For instance, in offshore oil and gas operations, produced water is often treated with moderate technologies—such as dissolved air flotation or chemical precipitation—before ocean discharge.

Regulatory food standards require food products and supplements to have nutrition labels to enable consumers to make informed decisions and take control of their overall health. Commonly located on the back of your favorite snacks and food products, the nutritional label provides nutritional content, including calories per serving, and breaking it down to total protein, total cholesterol, total fat, sodium and total carbohydrates.

Crossflow Filtration (CFF) and Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) describe a highly efficient method used across membrane-based separation workflows. Although the terms may vary by industry, the process is the same: fluid flows tangentially across a membrane surface, allowing smaller molecules to pass through while larger particles are retained and swept along the surface. 

Earlier in May, Ammar Hafiz, Application Engineer for Membrane Process Development, attended the North American Membrane Society (NAMS) 2025 conference in Nashville—one of the leading global events in membrane science. Over three days, Ammar engaged with researchers, engineers, and industry leaders to explore emerging applications, share insights, and gather valuable feedback. Ammar was also involved in evaluating the posters competing for the Best Poster Award.
