Sterlitech is here to help with processing this year’s harvest

Preparation

The end of summer means preparation for the upcoming harvest of commercial crops across the globe. Within the ever-expanding international cannabis market, farmers have been gearing up for a busy season. After harvest, the focus will turn towards processing to meet market demands for extracted cannabis products.

Extraction processes

Extraction starts with wet or dried plant material, and proceeds in one of three ways: hydrocarbon (butane or propane usually) extraction, ethanol extraction, or supercritical CO2 extraction. All three methods work to isolate the desired compounds, but also remove undesired compounds too, such as plant debris, bacteria, dirt, lipids, and chlorophyll.

Sterlitech’s Cannabis Extraction Page outlines some basic steps in processing, and how our products can be integrated into these steps. We have included a process flow diagram with easy links to equipment needed for a full extraction system. Users can also download our Cannabis Extraction Guide, which describes a methods overview of each step in the process, from plant to product.

Sterlitech’s expanded cannabis extraction product line

Our filtration and lab equipment products are here to help processors convert their harvests into quality products for the medical and recreational markets. We are working to cover every step and become a single source for cannabis processing.

We offer botanical extraction kits for winterization and cold filtration in various sizes, to filter batch volumes from 500 ml to 10 L. These kits include a filter holder (Buchner funnel or glass filter holder) with a vacuum receiving flask, filters, and accessories (e.g. vacuum pumps, tubing, and manifolds) – all of the kit components are also available individually on our site. Beyond winterization, we carry carboys for optimal liquid storage and gurgle-proof spigots for small hydroponic operations. For solvent recovery, we offer rotary evaporators (rotovaps) and chillers.
