Now Available: cellQART® 6- and 24-Well Empty Plates

Cell culture is a laboratory method that is used to grow cells under controlled conditions outside of their natural environment, on a semipermeable track-etch membrane, attached to an insert body. Advantageous for its reproducibility and consistency of results, as well as for serving as an alternative to animal testing, cell culture is commonly used for a wide range of research and development applications, including cancer research, drug development, tissue engineering and toxicity testing.

Success in cell culture applications require high quality inserts, compatible plates that offer stability during growth, prevent cross contamination, and enable proper oxygen flow. Additionally, some applications may require more flexibility. In additional to cell culture inserts and pre-loaded well plates, 6- and 24-Well Empty Plates by cellQART® are now available.

Generally, cell culture inserts are placed into well plates, where cell culture media is added. In vivo-like conditions enable cell growth thanks to access to nutrients or substances from the apical and basolateral side. Factors such as cell type, cultivation period and monitoring technique determine selection of pore size and optics of the insert, but some application objectives may require flexibility beyond the standard well configurations.

Empty Well Plates may be beneficial for applications requiring:

  • Control Wells: serve as an empty well in a well plate as a control for comparison to serve as a baseline for the control group
  • Spacing and Layout Considerations: strategically create specific layouts for experiments
  • Waste Wells: serve as a designated area for collecting and disposing of waste or excess materials generated during the experiment
  • Ease of Handling: Leaving certain wells empty can facilitate easier handling of the plate during various steps of the experiment, such as during media changes or when adding reagents

cellQART® products are convenient and easy to use, give consistent results with every use, and are compatible with most standard cell culture protocols.
