MJBizCon 2019 Recap: New Products to Revolutionize Cannabis Processing

After attending MJBizCon this past December, Sterlitech can attest that this year’s conference was bigger than ever with 40,000 people from 75 countries in attendance. Our Sales Engineer, Kensen Hirohata, managed our booth for the duration of the event with visits from other members of our staff, including Sara Azari, Application Engineer and Mark Spatz, President and Founder. Below are some of our key takeaways:

Organic Solvent Nanofiltration (OSN) Membranes in Cannabis/Hemp Extraction

We were excited to see that extractors are now aware of the time-saving potential of OSN membranes in cannabis processing. OSN membranes can simplify the extraction process by combining winterization, filtration, evaporation to a single nanofiltration step. Other benefits include color removal (e.g. chlorophyll) and impurities while preserving yields of desired end products (up to 90% concentration of THC and CBD). An OSN membrane system also offers easier scale-up options than traditional evaporative equipment. View a live demo and learn more about this cutting-edge process in our recent webinar: A Deep Dive into Organic Solvent Nanofiltration Solutions for Cannabis & Hemp Extraction.

Sterlitech Unveiled the New Explosion-Proof Skid for Membrane Testing/Small-batch Processing

We brought some shiny hardware to the conference in the form of our new Explosion-Proof Skid designed specifically for cannabis extract purification. Used in conjunction with OSN membranes, our skids are custom-designed for effortless bench-scale testing and small-batch processing. Capsule Filters for Final Filtration of CBD/THC Nanoemulsions

The rise in demand for solventless cannabis extracts for pharmaceutical and food/beverage markets underscores the need to ensure safe consumption of these products. This is where filtration can help: capsule filters are designed for the removal of particles and bacteria from solutions such as CBD/THC nanoemulsions. We recommend our PES 0.2 micron capsule filters for best results. All our capsules contain membrane media that are pre-flushed with purified water to reduce extractables and pass class VI toxicology testing.

We look forward to attending MJBizCon 2020 to be a part of emerging developments and innovations in the industry. In the meantime, be sure to check out our page dedicated to meeting your cannabis extraction lab needs here.
