Polypropylene (PP) membrane filters are naturally hydrophobic, making them ideal for gas filtration, air venting, and vent filter applications where aqueous liquids must be repelled. They offer good chemical resistance, excellent durability, and reliable filtration performance. As a cost-effective alternative to PTFE membrane filters, PP membranes are well suited for applications that do not require PTFE's higher level of chemical resistance.

The thickness of Sterlitech polypropylene membrane filters depends on the membrane pore size. Sterlitech Polypropylene (PP) membrane filters can be sterilized using compatible chemical sterilization methods, including ethylene oxide (EtO) or formalin. These methods help maintain membrane integrity while providing effective sterilization for compatible laboratory and filtration applications.

Polypropylene (PP) membrane filters are naturally hydrophobic and typically have a water contact angle of 100° or greater. This high contact angle enables PP membranes to repel aqueous liquids, making them well suited for gas filtration, air venting, and other hydrophobic membrane filtration applications.

If polypropylene membrane filters are unavailable or not suitable for your application, PTFE membrane filters are often a recommended alternative. PTFE membranes offer excellent chemical resistance, broad solvent compatibility, and are available in both hydrophobic and hydrophilic configurations for a wide range of filtration applications.
