Filter Holders and Accessories FAQ
Do you need a Chemical Compatibility Chart?
We have a Chemical Compatibility Chart that you can use for reference.
Are magnetic filter funnels suitable for organic solvent filtration?
Solvent or acid filtration is not recommended, as such use could greatly reduce the lifetime of these funnels.
Can magnetic filter funnels be autoclaved?
PES MF funnels can withstand multiple autoclave cycles at 121 - 123 °C (250 -253 °F) at 1.0 bar (100 kPa, 15 psi) for 15 - 20 min. Please remove the lid kits and stoppers before autoclaving. Do NOT autoclave these funnels with aluminum foil.
Repeated used of detergents may cause polyphenyl sulfone to crack, especially those containing polyoxyethylated alkyl phenols and alcohols, anti-corrosion, or anti-scaling boiler additives.
Are tweezers required for handling membrane filters?
The membrane filter tweezers offered at https://www.sterlitech.com/stainless-steel-membrane-filter-tweezers-pad-tip-ends.html are recommended for handling membrane filters to minimize the potential for contamination and damage. However, the tweezers are not mandatory and most membrane filters can be installed by hand. Gloves are recommended when handling membrane filters to avoid contamination with skin oils.
