Manifolds FAQ

Most Rocker laboratory manifolds (except the MultiVac 310 and MultiVac 610) feature interchangeable adapters to accommodate a variety of filter holders and disposable filtration units: MS Adapter: Compatible with filter holders or disposable filtration units that use a No. 8 silicone stopper. MB Adapter: Compatible with Rocker SF stainless steel funnels and Pall Sentino® disposable funnels (Models 4870 and 4871). Disposable Funnel Adapters: Available for Sartorius Microsart® disposable funnels (16A07) and Millipore Microfil® disposable funnels

For water filtration, Sterlitech recommends the following options: Liquid Pump (ISO 8199 compliant): Connects directly to the manifold, eliminating bottle emptying and reducing assembly time—saving up to 30% in processing time and 40% in workspace. Vacuum Pump: For standard water filtration, use a minimum 4 L vacuum bottle to reduce emptying frequency. The Rocker 400 Series vacuum pump is recommended for use with a 4 L vacuum bottle. For larger sample volumes, select a higher-flow vacuum pump to improve filtration efficiency. If filtering samples with high suspended solids, high particulate loads, or high viscosity, a pump capable of achieving a deeper vacuum is recommended.

After each filtration, rinse the manifold with purified water to remove residual contaminants. Depending on your application and cross-contamination risk assessment, more frequent cleaning may be necessary. For routine maintenance, clean the manifold surface with purified water or 75% ethanol.

The wetted parts of the MultiVac manifold that come into contact with the sample or filtrate are the manifold body and the O-rings. MultiVac 300 / 301 / 600 / 601: SS316 stainless steel body with FKM O-rings MultiVac 310 / 610: Aluminum body with FKM O-rings When selecting a MultiVac manifold, ensure the wetted materials are compatible with your sample and filtration application.

Yes. A coupling connector is required to connect two MultiVac manifolds. Please note that the coupling connectors are different for stainless steel and aluminum manifold models, so be sure to select the correct connector for your system.
