Valisette Test Kit for Laboratory Membranes

The Valisette laboratory test kit was created to help choose the most appropriate membrane cut-off for a particular application.
The laboratory Valisette is adapted for solid-liquid separation in the Microfiltration, Ultrafiltration and Fine Ultrafiltration (Nanofiltration) ranges. With its low hold up volume, this unit can treat solutions containing micro-particles or suspensions for concentration, purification, coupling to a membrane bioreactor, and other operations.
Operating Conditions
The solution to be treated is introduced into the carter (housing) through a pump, at cross-flow conditions.
One ceramic or pure titanium filter membrane selected from the MFT, UF or Fine UF (NF) range, is placed inside the carter.
The valisette laboratory test includes:
- 1 laboratory carter L-250mm
- 2 silicone gaskets sealing the membrane inside the carter
- 2 clamp ends DN 38 ribbed DN 8 for the retentate including their gaskets
- 2 clamp collars for permeate outlet with their EPDM gaskets
- Space for 8 membranes, to be selected according to the application in the MFT, UF, Fine UF, Nanofiltration (starter kit) range. The started kit is sold as an option
The solution to be treated circulates along the membrane. The permeate (or filtrate) is collected outside of the carter by two permeate connection outlets. The retentate (or the product to be treated) circulates through the recirculation pump to the feed tank containing the product to be filtered.
The available membrane lengths are: 250 or 600mm for Pure Titanium Filter membranes and 250, 600 or 1200mm for ceramic membranes, with a filtering area from 47cm2 to 450cm2.
For optimum use of the "valisette" laboratory test kit, we recommend recirculating at a flow rate between 200 and 400 l/h. To obtain 1 m/s velocity the flow rate in the membrane is 118 l/h.

The membrane gaskets are assembled and secured by retaining bolts then tightened using a torque wrench.
Applications
Concentration or sterile purification:
- Cells, yeast, fungi, bacteria, virus, enzymes, amino acids, etc.
- Pyrogen free of active principles, culture medium and amino acids.
Separations between:
- Micro organisms and culture medium or active ingredients, etc.
Continue systems:
- Continue fermentation by elimination of growth inhibitors and/or metabolites.
- Enzymatic reactors.
