Sterlitech announces assembly of Chlorine
and Bromine monitors Specified for use by NIOSH Method 6011
Kent, WA (November 1, 2002) Sterlitech Corporation announced today
that it has begun assembling and distributing an air-sampling device
for Chlorine and Bromine testing. The air cassette is specified
by the National Institute for Occupational Safety (NIOSH) Method
6011 for sampling of gaseous Chlorine and Bromine and utilizes
a Sterlitech silver membrane as a collection media.
In a current study by NIOSH, silver membranes were determined
to be a precise method for sampling Chlorine and Bromine in air.
This method will potentially help industries involved in bleaching,
pesticide production, refrigerants, sewage treatment, mineral extraction
and others. NIOSH also specifies silver metal membranes for sampling
Boron Carbide, Bromine, Chlorine, Hydrogen Cyanide, Lead Sulfide,
Silica, and Vanadium Oxides.
"Accurately testing for the presence of Chlorine and Bromine
gases is extremely important to many industries," said Sterlitech
President, Mark Spatz. "This new assembly from Sterlitech
enables these industries to precisely measure the levels of each
and to adequately protect their employees."
Silver metal membranes are available in micron ratings of 0.2,
0.45, 0.8, 1.2, 3.0, and 5.0 with standard diameters ranging from
13mm to 47mm.
