Sterlitech stirred cells are bench scale test equipment specifically designed to simulate crossflow/tangential filtration.
Used most commonly in the sub-micron range (MF, UF, NF, and RO), we offer two high pressure stainless steel chemical resistant stirred cells: the HP4750 stirred cell (1000 psi) and the HP4750X stirred cell (2500 psi). Lower pressure (65 psi) clear plastic (polycarbonate or acrylic) versions of these pressure filtration stirred cells are also available.
When utilizing these stirred cells for membrane separation, use compressed inert gas to create pressure on the membrane while a stirring mechanism (magnetic or mechanical) operates above the filter to avoid any cake formation.
See this
principle of operation link for an informative illustration.
Typical applications include:
- Biological or biopharmaceutical processing
- Concentration of fruit juices and extracts
- Food and beverage processing
- Desalination of brackish water or seawater
- Purification of rinse water in electroplating tanks
- Municipal or industrial water and wastewater purification
Complete rental units are available for the HP4750 stirred cell. Call or email for more information.
